We have recently completed printing Pre A and 356 Porsche Dials along with 911 Speedo's in black and white.

Now we have added a couple of electronic tachometers as a customer of ours is in the process of reproducing a 917 from scratch!

We may not have all of them but there is a fair representation of the common dials along with a few unusual ones including the tachometer dial for a 906 racing car.

This page also shows the process that is undertaken to restore your dial.

We screenprint our porsche dials on the highest quality cast vinyl which is pre-cut to match the original base which we strip and repaint.

Once they are prepared and applied correctly it is very difficult to tell the difference between the restored dial and an original.The inks used are of the same or better quality as those used in the original and the dials come with a lifetime warranty.

So what does it take to get from the above to those on the right?

RESTORATION

STEP 1 PAINT STRIP

After the dials have been scanned and the artwork produced and printed for the new dials the originals are paint stripped.

STEP 2 SAND

The dials are sanded and assessed to see if they need to be filled and sanded before etch priming.

The white paint on the back tends to flake over time due to the warm lights shining on it.If the paint is not renewed the paint can become dandruff inside the case!

Fresh white paint on the dial and inside the case also makes what little light there is more effective.

STEP 6 SAND ETCH PRIMER

It is critical that the paint finish is smooth.

STEP 7 APPLY BASE COLOUR

The base colour should be exactly the same as the vinyl colour that is going on top. In many cases this means that paint is specially mixed to match the original and applied to both the dial and the vinyl.
